PORTER’S - voted a national runner-up and number one in Wales in The Observer’s "best place to drink" category 2013 - is Cardiff’s ‘Hidden Gem’. An ugly and often over-used phrase but, genuinely, nobody's ever heard of us. It is owned by egotistical but friendly former/failed actor Dan Porter and situated by the Motorpoint Arena in the heart of Wales' capital city.
When you find us, you will find a warm welcome, a great atmosphere and superb entertainment. We programme everything. Live music, Theatre, Comedy. You name it, we've probably got it somewhere at Porter's. And if we don't have it, we want it; Porter's is about you. Dan Porter used to be an actor, but then he opened this bar, and if you drop in he'll welcome you with open arms, and might even challenge you to a game of mini golf. (that's right, the bar has its own mini golf course). We have a stage in the main bar where our bands/comedians/performers do their thing. It also serves as a space for Dan to make a spectacle of himself late on a Saturday night, but that really has to be seen to be believed.
We’re open from 4pm 'til late on Monday to Friday
Noon 'til late on Saturday
and 3pm 'til late on Sundays
We serve lagers, bottled ales, world beers, spirits, wines, soft drinks, waterloo teas, coffees, pizza, Dan's Nan's famous coleslaw and other tasty treats - it isn't just our stage that has variety. So, come on down; whether it's a Thurday afternoon chill out or a Saturday evening knee's up, we can't wait to see you at Porter's.
Good People. Good Times.
Monday is Quiz Night.
Tuesday is Open Mic and Ping Pong.
Wednesday is an ever changing roster of Comedy Den/Bandaoke/Boxfull/Ignite/Ping Pong and more - check events listings for the latest news.
Thursday we make up as we go along.
Friday? Well, it's just Friday at Porter's. Warm down from the week and warm up for the weekend. We'll provide the entertainment, you provide the company.
Saturday means 'Porter's Knees Up' - come down and kick your weekend up a gear. We put on some great live acts to get your toes tapping and your hips moving, soget yourself along and see what the ‘fuss’ is about.
'Come Down Sundays' are proof that God exists and that he took Sunday off - watch 2 free films in our cinema (yes - we have a cinema). Read the papers. Play some board games. Listen to some of our vinyl. Taking the hair of the dog is up to you but waiting for 'Sunday Mass’ , our open stage night in the main bar, is highly recommended.
